The Essence is a yearly literary publication produced entirely by Neuqua Valley students and supervised by the illustrious Gillian Schneider. It is an after school club that meets every week. The editors and general staff select a diverse amount of writing and art to be placed in the magazine. Throughout the year the staff rates the submissions depending on how well the piece fits the theme chosen. If a piece rates highly it can be used for final publication. By springtime the magazine is printed and handed out to its contributors. Submissions can come from any age student and provide a freedom for artists in the Neuqua Community. If you’re interested in being published in your school’s literary magazine send your art (photographs, paintings, statues, other) or your writing (poetry, short stories, essays, screenplays, other) to firstname.lastname@example.org. If you’d like to be a part of the staff attend the after school meetings on Tuesdays in the upstairs forum room. All are welcome!
